Welcome!

feetsmall.jpgby Aaron WulfPlease, pull up a seat! The fire’s warm, and we’ve got plenty of space. The campfire’s a great place to listen and be heard.

We’re trying to be intentional with the way we communicate our stories and ideas. We’re posting our trail journals here, but it’s no fun sittin’ around the fire with only two of us talking. It’s meant to be interactive.

We’d like this to feel like a safe and inclusive space. Please treat folks with respect, or we might ask you leave the circle. ;) Also, we don’t take kindly to haters, spammers or perverts.

Our mission on this thru-hike is to experience firsthand and to draw attention to the wellness-related benefits of outdoor recreation.

Have you experienced nature in a way that’s affected your wellness (physical, emotional, social, spiritual, intellectual, etc.)? For starters, ask yourself, has time spent in nature helped you to…
* Relieve stress, improve concentration, lose weight
* Connect with your inner self, another person, or the natural world
* Change your perspective (on life, relationships, the environment, animals, water, society…)

People often report that getting closer to nature truly enhances their sense of well being, in these and many other ways. To learn more, visit our Resources & Links page.

We may not be able to respond to all of your comments/posts, but we’ll definitely read them; hopefully we’ll all learn something in the process. Your thoughtful contributions ’round the fire are the best way to support us on our trail to wellness. So, kick off your boots, pull up a camp chair and share a story.

Getting started:

  1. The main blog page is at http://www.trails2wellness.org/blog.
  2. You do not need to register to read the blog (click Blog tab at the top of this page), but we encourage you to register so that you can contribute your own thoughts by writing a post. *Note - we’ve been overrun with spam so now you DO need to be registered to comment (10/16/07).
  3. To write your own posts, you need to register. Click Register here or under META (toward the bottom of the right sidebar). Choose a username for yourself, and enter an e-mail address. Wordpress will e-mail you a password. Then you will be able to login.
  4. To comment (once you are registered), simply click on the post title to read it, and click to add your own comments below it.
  5. To post, click on “Write a post under the Dashboard tab or click the Write tab. It’s pretty straightforward from there. Click publish and you’re done! You can edit your own posts under the Manage tab.
